Ab Machines

Within the pages of this site, we are going to try and give you some solid information that will help you come to a decision about whether or not you could benefit from one of the many types of ab machines that are currently out there.

First off, What are you trying to achieve?

If you are looking for the beach body look that we have all grown used to seeing, there are some important things that you will need to know, otherwise no ab machine in the world will give you your desired result.

1: You must lose fat in order to see abs
2: You can not burn fat from your stomach only
3: You can’t burn fat by doing crunches/sit ups

A lot of the adverts you see on tv or in magazines promoting the latest greatest ab machines make it appear that you can simply buy the product, do a few weeks on the machine and you will look like the model who is adorning the ab machine.  Do not be fooled by this.  Some ab machines really are very good but none of them will give you the ability to lose your belly fat in 4 weeks and look like the latest bikini model or Adonis.

In order to see your abs, you HAVE to firstly lose weight, assuming you are carrying weight.  Doing abdominal exercises will of course build your ab muscles but you won’t see the results through the layer of fat.  Something else to consider is that muscle and fat are TWO very different things.  Muscle can not be turned to fat and fat can not be turned to muscle.  You can burn fat and grow muscle but you can’t turn one into the other.

Burning fat is also impossible to do from one spot only.  You need to burn fat from your entire body.  Thre is no way around this.  Personally, I think this is a good thing.  In order to burn fat, you absolutely have to burn more calories than you are consuming in a day.  You do this by increased exercise and by eating low fat healthy foods.  The internet is full of sound information on this subject.

Another myth that a lot of people buy into is that you can lose the weight by doing sit ups or crunches.  Unless you are a genetic freak, this will prove to be a soul destroying exercise.  You are not going to burn the required amount of calories by doing sit ups.  It is physically impossible.

Tha being said, there are certain ab machines that will add an element of cardio into your ab training routine and these will certainly increase the calories burned.  One of the ab machines that springs to mind is the Ab Circle Pro.   The Ab Circle Pro is one of the best ab machines available as it really does target all the core muscles of the ab region, including the obliques which run down the side of your body.  Also, becaue of the motion used for this partiular ab machine, you will find that a relativel good cardio workout is done at the same time strengthening the thighs and glutes as well.

But the Ab Circle, as good as it is, is not the only good ab machine out there.  There are a few that have proved to have solid benefits to those people who have used them.  This site reviews a few machines and devices that have proven to work the abs.

The Ab Rocket is one of the machines and I really like this one for two reasons.  Firstly, it works the abs properly ensuring you have a great ab routine, and secondly, it is easy on the back, and for someone like me who suffers from lower back pain, this is a blessed relief when it comes to ab exercises.

Doing regular ab crunches without the aid of a machine is actually quite painful and the ab rocket supports the lower back neutralising this problem in my case.  However, don’t think that the ab rocket is only of benefit to people with lowert back pain.  It really does work and is a very good option for anyone interested in purchasing an ab machine.

I have also come across other forms of ab machine that I have to say I was a little sceptical about prior to using them.  The Flex Belt is definitely one that I thought was a sham but was proven wrong.  Probably, in my opinion, not the best of the bunch but it is very good at targeting the muscles of the abdominal region.  For me though, the beauty of this machine is that you could actually do an abn workout whilst working, reading a book or watching the tv.  I guess for busy people who are travelling on business a lot this might come into its own.

The machine works by attching pads to the abdominal region and then chossing a setting on the flex belt power unit to stimulate the abdominal muscles with electrical currents.  It is a very strange sensation if you have not experienced it before but it is a very good way to tone the abs.  The flex belt will not help you lose weight.
